NASA Astronauts Stucks in Space Boeing
NASA has announced it will make a decision by the end of August on how to bring home two astronauts stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) after a malfunction with their Boeing-built Starliner spacecraft. Astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita “Suni” Williams were launched to the ISS on June 5 for the Starliner’s first crewed flight, intended to last eight days. However, they remain on the ISS due to a thruster issue with their spacecraft.
At a recent news conference, NASA officials revealed that they are still analyzing data related to the thrusters, which are essential for the spacecraft’s descent from orbit. Ken Bowersox, NASA’s associate administrator for the Space Operations Mission Directorate, indicated that a decision needs to be made soon.
NASA must choose between using the malfunctioning Starliner or potentially utilizing a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, which is scheduled to launch its Crew-9 mission on September 24 with fewer astronauts. If SpaceX is selected, the Crew Dragon could return Wilmore and Williams to Earth by February 2025, a delay that would represent a significant setback for Boeing.
Despite Boeing’s confidence in Starliner’s ability to safely return the astronauts, ongoing issues with the propulsion system are a major concern. NASA’s discussions with Boeing have been candid about these challenges. Boeing has since provided extensive testing data on the thrusters.
Pixar also shared one-of-a-kind photos on the event, highlighting the series’ colourful and creative setting. The Inside Out franchise has been a big success, with the latest film grossing $1.56 billion globally, making it a top field-office hit of 2024. Dream Productions adds to Disney ‘s growing lineup of Pixar-based totally series, joining Monsters at Work, which recently premiered its 2d season at the platform.
